Wynonna was born Christina Claire Ciminella in Ashland, Kentucky, on May 30, 1964. She was given the surname Ciminella because her mother married Michael Ciminella after being abandoned by Judd’s biological father, Charles Jordan, who died in 2000.

Ashley Judd, her younger half-sister, and an actress is her younger half-sister. In 1968, Naomi and Ciminella moved to Los Angeles with their kids, but by 1972, they were divorced.

In 1976, Wynonna Judd and her mother Naomi were living in Kentucky. There, Wynonna began to take an interest in playing the guitar after receiving one as a gift over the holiday season.
